“Well done … Well done”
Five years ago, at the birth of our first grandson, those words were spoken. The night was a bit crazy. The setting was a hospital in Auckland, NZ. The first hospital she went to “hoped” to open up a bed for her, but after a few hours and her delivery coming soon … it became obvious that it would not come in time. The next hospital had to run her through all the paces getting up to speed on her case. She as blessed that her Mid-wife came with her. In the throws of the delivery, the mid-wife was monitoring vitals with her back turned to Kristen. Tomya was there to be supportive and the nurse made her laugh. You see, she could see the charts and machines, but was not looking at Kristen. And as she saw a contraction diminish she loudly cheered, “Well done Kristen!! Well done!!” Kristen’s face showed the wear and tear of one in labor. It would turn out … she did quite well. And we have our Caden as a result.
Last Sunday we had a challenging Special contribution. Challenging because of the $50,000 goal. And challenging because it’s not the only fund being raised in our congregation. You see, we had to believe that we could reach the $50,000 and $5,000 for a Youth Rally and about $4,000 for Missions. The response was awesome. I am not sure what the count was last Sunday, but with pledges and other responses it is bound to rise. Well done church! Well done!!!
Giving is one of the purest forms of Faith. You, like the Poor Widow and her 2 small copper coins, empty out your checking and have to trust God with the expenses that come your way that week. It is also a sign of whether or not you get this “Christianity thing”. The God side of our covenant is saturated with His Giving. Wouldn’t stand to reason that He would expect the same from us?
So … you gave … probably more in one day than any other time in your life. “Well done Lumberton!! Well done!!” And God will test our Faith with more opportunities to give in the future. May we continue to grow in His Grace and Generosity!
