Kingdom Law-Abiding Citizens

Good morning, and welcome to our weekly visit to His kingdom, where we worship, praise, pray, commune, and study His laws, practicing for an eternity spent doing these things.  While in this world, we are focused on the entrance requirements for citizenship in His kingdom, but I sometimes wonder what it means to be a law-abiding citizen of heaven.

My dad was a state Supreme Court staff attorney for many years, and I have overheard countless discussions about the letter of the law versus the spirit of the law. “What was the intent of the legislators who authored and ratified the law?” is a question that generates endless debate.  I’m not sure we can appreciate how profoundly this question changes in heaven; “What is the intent of the Creator (and King) who authors, pronounces, and enforces His own law?”

Well, He is there, we could ask Him, if we dare. Or maybe this is one of those prudent moments to just keep silent. Better still, if our hearts are filled with His Spirit (an entrance requirement?), then we already know the spirit behind the law.  God is love, and we are filled to overflowing with His love, so we become love, and thus, there will be peace on all His holy mountain.  Did you notice His holy mountain will have lions (& tigers & bears, oh my!) and lambs, and even S-N-A-K-E-S, and children, but all will be peace? What a mighty God we serve, indeed!

And as to the letter vs the spirit of the law? Spirit, definitely Spirit, HIS Spirit.

Grace & Peace,
Charles.
