Happy New Year !

Welcome to 2019, as we officially celebrate our 50th year at this location, with some original charter members from all the way back to 1969, Dale & Joyce Willis. While our charter members started meeting in homes in October of 1968, the land purchase for the current location was completed in 1969, and the dedication services were held on the premises in August of 1970. This calls for CELEBRATION in our year of JUBILEE! But while we may boast about being the Lumberton Church of Christ for 50 years and counting, let’s remember the Church of Christ has been under the same management for over 2,000 years, and God has been working diligently throughout human history… Well, OK, so on the seventh day He rested.

Anyway, our theme for the year is “50 Years of Faith & Family,” and we will be exploring family relationships; within our families, between our families, and within God’s Family. As followers of Jesus the Christ, how God created humankind, watched it rebel, and worked for its redemption while maintaining His justice and holiness is our family history .  While His grace and mercy are boundless for a truly penitent heart, His integrity demanded a high price for atonement, the life of the Good Shepherd, His own son, and our Savior.

And so, even 50 years later, we hold fast to our upbringing in the Word, studying His plan, worshiping His Name, acknowledging our own short-comings, accepting the harsh cost of His intervention, and thankfully obeying His commands.  But that repentance thing, that’s hard to swallow, and even harder to act upon daily.

Grace & Peace, Charles.
