“Easter Sunday …”
I remember as a child, how important it was as Easter approached to my mother for her to take me to the “used clothes consignment” shop to pick out clothes for that Sunday. Perhaps it’s different for girls … and maybe even different amongst boys, but there was nothing about this shopping trip that I looked forward to. I was going to go home with clothes that smelled a bit like mothballs and often the sports jacket made my neck itch and the shoes would hurt my feet. All for one Sunday?
Now, we had Easter Egg hunts in our living room and sometimes our yard. Being the 4th of 5 my chances of getting many eggs was doubtful. But mother had a basket positioned right beside our “new to us” clothes that had some eggs in it as well. We managed to survive for a few days on Chocolate bunnies, hard-boiled eggs and “Peeps”.
All said, Easter was a special holiday in our home because Mom made sure it was. But as much as it seemed like it was candy and clothes centered, it was always Resurrected Christ centered.
Now, I know some will say that we need to be resurrected Christ centered every day … and I agree with all of my heart to that. I also know, like Christmas, that many are taking the day to give thought to the Power of that factual event. That one day … might open up an Eternity of Life changing … Life liberating possibilities!
The Power of the resurrection was a cornerstone discussion amongst first century Christians. The fact that resurrection is built into the Gospel description of Baptism makes it always a part of who we are and what we speak about.
So, if you’re hear today and thinking about the significance of the Resurrection and it’s potential in your daily life, my offer is to be available to help you connect to those powerful truths. The Resurrection of Christ ends up being a powerful promise to all of His people … “The Grave does NOT have the last say for God’s people”!

AIM students arrive tomorrow. They will be with us for a week. If you know of any service projects or could use a visit, please let me know ASAP so we can put you on the schedule. Saturday April 2nd we will have 3 streets to clean. We need as many volunteers as we can get. We meet at 9 am and should be done well before Noon.
