The Lord’s Supper holds a special place in my heart as part of our worship services. While some these days tend to discount its importance, and only observe it quarterly or annually because it is inconvenient, time-consuming, or associated with the annual Passover Festival, we still hold this command from Jesus in utmost importance; “Do This In Remembrance of Me.”
As a creature of habit, I find strength, solace, and peace in the weekly reminder of Jesus’ historical earthly life, and by that I mean “His Story,” or history. Even though I saw him not, I have heard the old, old, story, and I believe, forming the firm foundation of my faith in Christ Jesus my Lord. (Wow, I think I just ran five songs titles together. LOL)
As a sinner, I am blessed and gratefully accept His grace and mercy, having offered his life on the cross as the atoning sacrifice for the forgiveness of my sins. Because of the cost He willingly paid, I choose to obey the command to remember him and follow his example.
At the risk of getting personal, we will spend some time exploring why the weekly observance of the Lord’s Supper is near and dear to my heart. You might even learn more about how I think about the world, the Spirit, and being a Christian.
Grace & Peace, Charles
