A wise deacon once said, “Every man in the congregation ought to have at least one good sermon in them, even if it is short, direct, and heavy on Scripture.” As the spring semester progresses, I find more of my time consumed grading late papers, emailing
parents, sponsoring UIL events, going on field trips, and proctoring standardized tests, both STAAR and AP. Spring is the busiest time of a school teacher’s year. So, I am blessed and ever so thankful Mike Barnes offered to go first and take this week’s sermon. Cameron even agreed to help with the children’s sermonette after a little arm twisting. So, as Christ’s family, let’s give them both our best attention as we hear the Word preached by one of our deacons and son. And be nice! Your turn at one good sermon may be close at hand. God moves in mysterious ways, and we all need to practice preaching in addition to practicing what we preach.
Grace & Peace,
Charles
