“There’s a whole lot of shaking going on”
Now, Big Maybelle and Jerry Lee Lewis made a song by that name famous. I noticed that our daily reading has taken us through Numbers and that seemed to be their “theme song” as well. I would like to report that Jerry Lee’s version was a but more risque … but it would seem that the Israelites also dabbled in fleshly pursuits! The thread to learn from in all of this week’s reading is that God has a standard for us to live my … it is to HIS glory … but it’s also for our protection.
What a wonderful … but fast week with the Scotland Team of AIMers! They picked up trash .. on the roads … on our property … and even in our building. They were courteous … respectful and diligent in their duties. They were a real credit to the AIM program and I truly believe that one day we will look back at the 5: Lauren, Avonlea, David, Brennan and Jake and proudly declare to others that “we knew them”.
Thanks also to many of you who made their visit flow. To The Browns, Barnes and Garners for feeding them. To the Gibson’s for leading most of their service projects and making sure there was at least snacking food to be found at the building… Thank you! And thank you to Wayne Taylor for introducing the guys to the Ministry in the Nursing home.
Tomya and I had a little different perspective. You see, we’ve had 3 of our children go through “AIM Challenge Week” and we were out of the country for most of those experiences. It was great watching these young people be loved and blessed and gave us great comfort for those who blessed our children years ago!
Busy weekend! (Under statement) LTC convention and competition took place yesterday. Windy Barnes was our Director and will undoubtedly report how well things went. I will say that it’s so hard in today’s world to secure enough time from our Youth the adequately prepare them for such an undertaking. What a blessing that families, teachers and even our Elders supported this effort! It is a true strength to our congregation.
Oh yeah … Happy Easter! The Candy in the Foyer is NOT surplus Bunny treats … you have to pay for them … but ½ of all proceeds go toward our Youth Rally in August! So buy a bunch!
Love ya!
