“Your Opportunity to be part of something BIG that God is doing here at Lumberton”

Recently, the Elders announced a plan to update and expand some of our facility. The areas that will receive the attention are:
1. Expansion of our Children’s Classrooms. Due to a great increase in our children population a few of our smaller classrooms will be combined. The larger rooms will help with VBS, weekly children’s classes, Bible Hour and our annual Youth Rally. Basically dividing walls will be removed and each classroom updated.
2. Remodel of Fellowship Hall. The current paneling will be replaced with drywall. Electrical will be updated, Windows overlooking the playground (Yes we have a playground) and new carpet will be laid.
3. Remodel of the Kitchen. The kitchen will be expanded. A second stove and oven will be added. Two new microwaves added, and an Ice Maker will be purchased. The design crew: Joyce, Sherry and Tomya have redesigned the flow and added an Island in the middle for food preparation.
4. Bathrooms in the Fellowship hall. These will be remodeled and updated.
5. Electrical Updates: Several rooms have out of code electrical issues. The Teen class will receive several updates including New outlets. The Library will receive new lighting, several new outlets, Dry walling and shelves for the books. Craig’s office will receive a ceiling fan and electrical updates.
6. The Hall way by Craig’s office will be finished
7. The Foyer Bathrooms will also be finished.
8. Outdoor security lights will be installed around the building. These will be helpful for those who drive around the building, for those who would like to have outdoor activities after dark and for security.

Weren’t we blessed by the remodeling of our Auditorium? This next phase will bring the rest of our building up to that level.

The Estimate for this work is set at $70,000. Of course it may come under that price as well. Our congregational Savings will reduce that by $20,000. The remaining $50,000 will be polished off with a Super Sunday Giving. Truthfully, you will be asked to give sacrificially. But, there is no pressure to lay a burden on your household greater than you can afford.

The Benefit? Without creating work crews and doing some of the work ourselves, our effort will be the satisfaction that we accomplished this … Together. This is an “us” project. Everyone benefits. Some of the updating is dearly needed. Others will serve us weekly in the many things we do as a Church Family.

What can you do? With some 55 Family Units worshipping here, the per family expense would be just over $900 per family. Some of you cannot afford that. We understand. Invest what you can. Others of you can afford much more than that. We ask that you please pledge as God puts it on your heart. And Pray. Prayer is not the afterthought or last recourse. It is the point man for all that we do. Without God … we can do nothing. Pray about the project as well as God’s will for you in this opportunity.

April 13th is the Big Sunday Giving. Put that on your Calendar and bring your checkbook, Piggy Banks and Gift Offerings. If you are expecting a Tax refund and would like to use it but it won’t arrive until after the date, use a Pledge Card so that the Elders can see where the funds are coming from and you won’t miss out on participating.

A Special Thanks to Mike and Windy Barnes, Sherry Gibson, Angie Newby and Tomya Peters for Dreaming and planning these practical updates for OUR church building! And Thank you to the Shepherds here who are always looking for ways we can be a blessing to God and grow in our commitment and good works.

Let’s work together to see what amazing things our Lord may accomplish!
