“What was your favorite Part?”
So, you survived Thanksgiving 2013! Good on ya! It’s kind of funny how things that are intended to be a blessing and memorable end up getting quite complicated. I can’t tell you how many trips we took to the store to secure items for the big meal! Don’t get me wrong, I love Thanksgiving … and the family coming in … but it just seems to get bigger and bigger as the day approaches. And of course we forgot something … something vital to the day (at this point we have no whip cream) (Written on Monday afternoon).
But, as I write … I am mindful of the grandchildren coming. Gemma and Lincoln are coming! I’d love to see all 5, but will take whatever the Good Lord will provide. These two don’t “do” much yet … but Oh how marvelously God engineered them both!
I am also mindful of the meal. I love Thanksgiving meal … especially since my wife doesn’t dry out the Turkey! And this year we have Ham and a Smoked Turkey breast. I fixed up my Smoker, and with all the family coming in … I might smoke some more!
I am a Thankful man … I think. I am blessed with the most beautiful wife and helpmate a man could imagine. I am constantly reminded of how blessed I am to have 5 healthy, God-loving children. I love the spouse of each of my kids … and already love the new daughter-in-law to be. My Mother in law even came in! I am Thankful for her too! I am Thankful for our home and love it even more when it’s full of people. I love my church family and each chance we have to get together. I love Pumpkin pie … and our family tradition of Peppermint Ice cream.
I love Thanksgiving because it makes me consider both my blessings … and their Source!
My favorite part? YES – is my answer. I hope you were fed and blessed with loved ones nearby as well. I hope the table you sat at was full. I hope even more that you were able to count your many blessings and found a moment to Thank our Lord. I hope you feel blessed to be part of the Lumberton church family. I do!
Sleeping off the meal ….
