When the Spirit Moves

My schedule has been a little awkward this week, with school out and dusting off my song leading skills while Steve Gibson kicks off our Jubilee year family testimonials for 4th Sunday.  I have been challenged gathering my thoughts and making worship preparations while feeling out of sync with the normal routine.

But then Steve caught me, “Charles, I need your help adding these pictures to my testimonial for Sunday.” I was glad to help, and you’ll see those slides today, but I was encouraged by Steve’s zeal for the opportunity to witness to our Lord Jesus.  Steve is really pumped up to share his testimony with you. The Holy Spirit is enthusiastic to build relationships and share the Good News of Jesus’ impact in our own lives. It’s really not “Charles in Charge” as some of you believe.

I must confess, after we finished with Steve’s slides, I wondered where our worship zeal has gone.  Shouldn’t we all be zealous for worship, for coming together to praise our Lord and Savior, for sharing the Lord’s Supper in remembrance of Him, and for rejoicing in the Holy Spirit?  Why aren’t we filled to overflowing with praise, joy, and love to the point our worship is the most treasured and anticipated appointment on our weekly calendar?

Well, for some of us it is, and for the rest of us, it should be. So, how do we make it more worship-full? Have you asked God for more meaningful worship? Have you ever focused on worship? Have you ever knocked on the Holy Spirit’s door, or welcomed him into your heart, or prayed, “Help me worship fervently, passionately, zealously?” Well, I hope you’re ready, because we are going to praise our hearts out this morning.

Grace & Peace, Charles.
